The last Friday of May saw the grand opening of SMAY’s new headquarters and factory in the Niepolomice Investment Zone in Podlęż near Krakow. The opening was attended by several hundred people from Poland and abroad. The main events of the evening included speeches by the owners and management, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and acknowledgments, as well as an excellent staging to showcase the space of the new SMAY factory.

“We are here in a wonderful group, without which our company would not exist. With us are: investors, designers, appraisers, contractors, as well as representatives of suppliers and wholesalers offering our solutions,” was how Michal Maj, the company’s CEO and host of the opening, began his speech.
“There are a couple of extremely important issues in the development of a company,” said Marek Maj, founder of SMAY. “First of all, it’s the people. They are the ones who create the reality that surrounds us. [Second is dreams. Without dreams there is no motivation or inspiration.”
Trust, respect, responsibility and teamwork were SMAY’s values presented at the gala. Marzena Maj – Vice President of SMAY’s Board of Directors – spoke about how they influence the business and form the living fabric of the company.
Michal May argued in his speech: “Our products and solutions are a guarantee of safety for users of the facilities where they are installed. Therefore, they are also a guarantee of safety for investors: for owners of warehouses, shopping malls, office buildings, apartment buildings and so on. […] I guarantee you that our company will continue to provide consistent quality, safety and comfort.”
Construction of the hall has provided space to create new and upgrade existing nests and assembly lines. Later this year, new production lines will be established – including for steel multi-plane butterfly valves, flow controllers and fire dampers. Production capacity for fire protection products will also be increased. In the fourth quarter of 2022. SMAY plans to double capacity in the production of round and rectangular fire dampers. And that’s just the beginning. The company, which is betting on strong growth and an international presence, promises to further strengthen its production capacity.
An important part of the company is the R&D department. It currently consists of more than 30 people. Research laboratories of more than 1,000 sqm have already been set up at the new plant. In the near future, construction will begin on a separate laboratory for research in domestic and fire ventilation.
SMAY’s new headquarters is a modern production and warehouse facility with a total area of 18,500 sqm (including a research and development laboratory), a four-story office building of 4,500 sqm and a social building of 1,850 sqm. The total building area is more than 21,400 sqm.
The company’s new production facility uses the latest technologies, in line with the idea of Industry 4.0. The new premises include state-of-the-art technical solutions to support the comfort and health of employees, as well as guests. Adequate air quality will be ensured by modern ventilation, including iFlow (which is an ecological ventilation system that adapts to the changing needs of users and room occupancy), as well as photovoltaics and other energy-saving solutions that contribute to the building’s low carbon footprint.
